I just had a silly discussion with a friend.
I am sure you all know what fb is. It stands for Facebook. My friend claims that nowadays, in verbal communication, people prefer to use the word ‘fb’ (pronounced ‘ef-bee’) – rather than the word ‘facebook’.
I disagree and argue with him, stating that it doesn’t make sense (at least to me).
It does make sense in written, as you shorten the 8-letter word to 2-letter word. However, in verbal, ‘fb’ is two syllables and ‘facebook’ is also two syllables. Thus – in my opinion – shortening it into 2-letter-word does not suit the purpose.
I also don’t think pronouncing ‘fb’ is easier than ‘facebook’. It’s just the same.
So, what is it good for?
What do you think?

PS: I’ve told you! This is just a silly discussion :-).
I totally agree facebook is even easier to pronounce..
Who was the poor guy you asked for such discussion? :D
It was E.Y.A. :-)… No offense, dude. It was just a discussion. Hehehe…
untung nggak harus dinasionalisasi menjadi “kitab muka” atau “buku wajah” kasihan si buku.
Bukan kitab muka, pak… tapi km
Bukan buku wajah, pak… tapi bw
Hihihihihi…
hahahaha…. sapiii…
Hush, sapi kok dibawa-bawa…
ya.. it’s same with BB.. BlackBerry
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Blackberry is three syllables, BB is two syllables… so it’s three agains two.
BB won :-).
